Sight-reading
A short piece you've never seen, new every time. Look it over, then play it through once without stopping. Wrong notes are fine; keeping going is the skill.
- Level 1Four bars in C for the right hand: steps only, quarters and halves.
- Level 2Four bars in C, G or F: skips of a third and pairs of eighths.
- Level 3Four bars in up to two sharps or flats, in 3/4 or 4/4, with a left hand.
- Level 4Eight bars in up to three sharps or flats: dotted rhythms and leaps up to a fifth.
